Bridal Shower
Thanks to Nari and Maggie for hiring me as the "surprise" for Ashley's bridal shower last week. I was the guest chef and taught a group of women my recipes for vegetarian Caeser Salad wih garlic toasts, Pressure Cooker Vegetarian Risotto, and Tiramisu. It was really a fun evening. You know how I like to go on and on about the wonders of the pressure cooker- I think I may have a few converts!

I need to buy one of those one of these days.
Really, you will love it. Especially in that hot climate of yours- out of the kitchen in a fraction of the time. Of course you can't pressure cook pizza....
but you can pressure cook cheesecake!
you should get one, just stock up on vegetarian broth....
How do they do with rice? With potatoes?
I make soup but not that often...it doesn't get cold enough :)
Does so much more than soup!
White rice three minutes under pressure and then standing for seven minutes. Risotto about 6-8 minutes. Brown rice 25 minutes. Everything cooks in 1/10th to 1/3 the time. Steaming veggies, practically done in seconds with no loss of color or nutrients.
Beans from dry state in 20-30 minutes.
One dish dinners, curries, etc. All fast with slow food taste.
Are you sold yet?
Too bad you didn't just have a wedding where you could have registered for one.
Tip** buy at least a 6 quart. Many brands come as a set with two sizes, like a 6 and a 3 quart. I recommend that for flexibility.
Also comes with a regular lid so you can use as a cooking pot when not pressure cooking.
Any paticular brand/model you recommend?
there are many-
Magefesa, Fagor, Kuhn- Rikon (it's the Rolls Royce of pressure cookers).
they are all pretty compatible- just make sure you get the 18/10 stainless steel with triple clad bottom and again, nothing smaller than the six quart. It mught seem big but you have to have open space in the cooker
for the steam to build so you don't fill them all the way.
Do not get the electric model from William Sonoma.
I have a "tools of the trade" set from the Bon, a Magefesa set, and a recent purchase from the Goodwill, an Italian brand, Aeternum. I like it very much, too.
It was such a lovely post about the bridal shower. I am just in love with the teddy. Well, at some local New York wedding venues my cousin is also getting married and I also threw a fun weekend bridal shower for her. It was so enjoyable.
